Mr. Eric A. Orsini

Mr. Eric A. Orsini was born in Lodi, New Jersey in 1919. He entered the Army as a private in the field artillery in the summer of 1941 and completed the Officer Candidate program at Fort Knox in January 1943.

In 1953, he completed the Ordnance Officer Advanced course, and over the next 10 years he was: an Ordnance Staff Officer with U.S. Army Europe; a special assistant to the Chief of the Field Service Division at the Office of Ordnance; and Chief Assistant to the Ordnance Advisor to the First Army, Republic of Korea Army Logistics Officer. He was named Chief of the Maintenance Division, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense in 1963, where he was responsible for developing Army regulations for newly developed weapons systems.

He retired from the Army in 1971, but began a new career as a Department of Defense civilian. His first assignment, while working in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army, was to reorganize and establish a highly productive rebuild program. In 1975, he was appointed Deputy Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Logistics. His primary emphasis there was to develop and implement the Logistics Marking and Reading System. Mr. Orsini continued to do his best to provide the American Soldier with the best equipment available to perform his or her mission.
