Shelton E. Lollis

Major General Shelton E. Lollis was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on November 6, 1914 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1938. He served as a senior technical staff officer to the Division of Guided Missiles, Office of the Secretary of Defense when the Army's guided missile program was in its infancy.

From 1957 to 1960, he served as Chief of the Ordnance Advisory Section, U.S. Military Advisory Group in Taiwan, Republic of China, directing more than 300 U.S. Army Ordnance advisors. Between 1960 and 1964, he was President of the Ordnance Board, later the Army Material Command Board, developing future concepts for the Army's logistical systems. As commander of the Eighth Army Depot Command in Korea from 1964 to 1966, he executed a major reorganization and relocation of his main depot, developed and implemented new and forward-looking systems and concepts of operation, and assumed many additional responsibilities. As Deputy Commander and later as Commanding General of the First Logistics Command in Vietnam, he managed logistics support for American and allied troops there from 1966 to 1967.

In his final assignment as Commanding General of the Army Tank-Automotive Command, he greatly improved logistical support to American troops in Vietnam. General Lollis retired in 1971 and has since been active as a consultant to private industry.
