Chief Warrant Officer 5 Roscoe D. Leggs Jr.Chief Warrant Five (Ret) Roscoe Leggs joined the US Army in December 1968 and started his long career with basic training at Fort Bragg, NC and AIT at Fort Jackson, SC. After graduation he was assigned to Dong Tam, Vietnam. He served in a variety of duty positions as an enlisted soldier.

His next assignment took him to 1-42nd Field Artillery, Camp Page Korea in 1973. In 1974 through 1977, Leggs was assigned to several Motor Sergeant assignments at Fort Bragg, NC. On 15 October 1977, SSG Leggs applied for and received a direct appointment as an Automotive Maintenance Technician, 631A.

Mr. Leggs first assignment as a Warrant Officer was with the 72nd Aviation Unit, Fort Bragg, NC. From 1978 through 1979, Mr. Leggs was assigned to the 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea. His next assignment was back to Fort Bragg, NC from 1979 through 1982.

His next assignment was at 124th Maintenance Company and the 32nd Transportation Company, Germany, USAREUR. He then attended Warrant Officers Advanced Course 2-84, in Aberdeen, MD. It was during this period that Mr. Leggs was selected for a special task for the technical phase: the restoration of General Pershing's staff car used by the General during World War I. Mr. Leggs, along with other members of the team, researched the 1917 Locomobile, established the complete technical data, had parts made and searched the Antique Car market to get parts.

From November 1984 to December 1986, Mr. Leggs was assigned to the 503rd Maintenance Company. His next assignment was as the senior maintenance technician, Logistics Tactical Assistance Field Team (LOGTAFT), Mogadishu, Somalia from December 1986 through December 1987.

In 1988 through 1989, Mr. Leggs was assigned to the 659th Maintenance Company, 189th Maintenance Battalion as the Automotive Maintenance Technician. From 1989 through 1991, Mr. Leggs was reassigned to HHC, 189th Maintenance Battalion as the Staff Maintenance Technician. His next assignment sent Mr. Leggs to DISCOM, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea. He then returned to Ft Bragg to HQ, USA Garrison from 1992 through 1997 as the XVIII Airborne Corps Maintenance Technician /Readiness Officer G-4.

In November, CW4 Leggs attended the Warrant Officers Senior Staff Course, Class 1-97 at Fort Rucker, AL in route to his next assignment. He then returned to the HHC/MMC, 2nd Infantry Division Support Command, Camp Casey, Korea.

Mr. Leggs then returned to Fort Bragg, NC once again and was assigned to the 2nd Support Center (CMMC) from 1998 through 2000. He was assigned as the senior support /staff maintenance technician, advisor to the Commander 2d Support Center (CMMC). the Army.

Chief Warrant Five Leggs retired after 32 years of dedicated service to the Army and our Country. Mr. Leggs took off the uniform and continued to provide his skills and leadership as a contractor. Since 2003, Mr. Leggs continues to teach, coach and mentor Solders of the XVIII ABN Corps, working as the Team Chief of the XVIII ABN Corps Logistics Assistance Team, one of the teams under the FORSCOM COMET program.

The significant contributions to the Ordnance Corps made by Chief Warrant Five Roscoe D. Leggs during his career in the military and to this day are obvious. From the very beginning of his career in the military he impacted unit readiness in every unit he was assigned. He implemented a wide variety of programs and took part in the creation of many initiatives adopted by MACOMs and the Army.
