Jeffrey A. Martin

Upon successful completion of basic training at Fort Knox, KY and the 63H Mechanics Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1977, Jeff was assigned to B Detachment, 123rd Maintenance Battalion in Germany. From 1982 to 1986, Jeff was assigned to 1/1 Aviation as the A Company Motor Sergeant. It was also during this time period that he applied for and was accepted into the Warrant Officer Candidate Course where he graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate.

In 1986, Jeff would find himself once again in Germany in the 1st Armored Division, assigned to 2/1 Attack Aviation Battalion as the Battalion Maintenance Officer. In 1998 his unit would win the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence (Heavy Category) and 4 months later would win at the Secretary of Defense Maintenance Awards competition.

From 1991 to 1995 Jeff would serve as a company motor officer and then the battalion motor officer of the 701st Main Support Battalion. In the closing days before the inactivation of 701st MSB, the battalion was recognized as the runner-up in the FORSCOM Award for Maintenance Excellence.

In 1997, Jeff Martin would report to Fort Knox where he became the Director of Training for the Ground Mobility Division. During this period, Jeff's team would win the Department of the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence 3 years in a row as well as winning at the Secretary of Defense Maintenance Awards. Amazingly enough after winning the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence 4 times, Jeff never attended the award ceremony, opting instead to send the Soldiers he really believed earned the award.

Jeff was reassigned again in 2001 to Fort Gregg-Adams, VA where he would serve as the Material System Directorate Project Lead for the development of the Future Combat System and Future Tactical Truck System.

Jeff retired as a Chief Warrant Five in 2006 after serving the Army for more than 30 years. Since retiring Jeff has continued to work in the development of Future Systems and is highly regarded as one of the Army's experts when it comes to Reliability and Maintainability. A champion of pit-stop design for maintainability and integrated diagnostics, he sets the bar high and works tirelessly with industry and the Army test community to build, test and deliver these capabilities into the hands of Soldiers. These efforts span from the largest acquisition program in the Army's history to rapid delivery of capability packages (network, sensors, unmanned aerial vehicles and ground robotic systems). As the Deputy Director of Force Development he has helped complete the Army's transition to Two-Level Maintenance and assisted the Army in balancing tactical wheeled vehicle requirements through the reduction of 16,000 trucks. The Directorate was recognized as TRADOC's Combat Developer Team of the Year for TWV effort in 2009. Jeff has been recognized over the years for his service and has been presented the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe, Armor's Order of Saint George and CASCOM's Brehon B. Somervell Award. Today Jeff continues his service to the country and the Soldiers he believes deserve the very best.
