Lee D. Brush

Lee Brush was born on 1 July 1955 in Kane, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 21 June 1973 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Dix, NJ, followed by Advance Individual Training in MOS 11B at Fort Benning, Georgia. After participating in the Army's "On the Job Training" program as a Tracked Vehicle Mechanic, he was awarded the MOS of 63C.

Following his assignment as Mechanic/Maintenance Supervisor for 1st Battalion, 58th Infantry, 197th Infantry Brigade, Fort Benning, Ga., he attended Warrant Officer Basic Course and was appointed as a Warrant Officer in the Ordnance Corps on 28 May 1981. Brush's first assignment as a Warrant Officer was with the 4th Battalion, 77th Field Artillery, 41st Field Artillery Brigade in Europe. After a successful tour of duty as an Instructor and Training Developer for the Ordnance Center and School, Brush was assigned to Europe as the Support Maintenance Technician for the 125th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Armor Division. In November 1990, Brush's unit was alerted for deployment to the Middle East. In preparation, Mr. Brush personally ensured his unit's equipment was combat ready and he but that his sister battalions had the benefit of his technical knowledge and expertise.

In 1991, Brush was reassigned as the Support Maintenance Technician for the 101st Forward Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. Brush took advantage of his extensive maintenance experience to dramatically increase the operational readiness rate for the battalion. His next assignment was as career manager for the Ordnance Mechanical Maintenance Warrant Officers where he had the distinct honor of mentoring over a thousand young Ordnance Warrant Officers. Additionally, Mr. Brush had the enormous responsibility of maintaining all commands worldwide at the approved Officer Distribution Plan level. In this capacity he flawlessly managed over seventy congressionally mandated positions in support of the Army Reserve and Army National Guard.

In 1997, Brush reported to the Combined Arms Support Command as a Combat Developer assigned to the Ordnance Directorate. His initial assignment as a Combat Developer was to develop the analytical underpinning for maintenance support for the Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) as a member of the Force Design Team. He developed a process to articulate and quantify the maintenance burden for the organic weapon system of the Stryker Brigade Combat Team. Additionally, Brush represented the Ordnance Directorate in all matters pertaining to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for non-proponent weapons systems, including the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Abrams Main Battle Tank, Crusader Artillery System and tracked variant systems from these families of vehicles.

Brush retired from the United States Army in 2001 and went to work for a government support contractor. Assigned as a Senior Military Analyst in CASCOM, Material Systems Directorate, he assisted in the development, research, analysis, review, revision and staffing of the Standard Automotive Tool Set (SATS) Operational Requirements Document (ORD) and Basis of Issue Plan Feeder Data (BOIPFD) to support the current and future force structures.

Brush is a Department of the Army civilian employed as a Senior Management Analyst assigned to the United States Army Force Management Support Agency (USAFMSA).
