Gregory A. Mason

Lieutenant Colonel Robert E. Leiendecker Colonel Gregory A. Mason was born in Newsoms, Virginia, and graduated from Norfolk State University in 1988 where he completed the ROTC program and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Chemical Corps. After five years as a Chemical Officer, he transferred to the Ordnance Branch and began his twenty-one year career as an Ordnance Officer.

His career of ever increasing responsibility included command of the 41st Ordnance Company at the Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Germany; assignment to the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii with assignments including Support Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer for the 225th Forward Support Battalion; and Deputy Commander of the 45th Sustainment Brigade. In 2006, Colonel Mason took command of the 73rd Ordnance Battalion at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia.

Following assignments as the Regimental Proponency Officer in the office of the Chief of Ordnance and Director of Material Systems Directorate at the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM), Colonel Mason became the Assistant Commandant/Chief of Staff for the Army's Ordnance School at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia in 2011. For the next three years, he was directly responsible for all facets of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leader Development, Personnel, Facilities and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) for the Ordnance Corps; to include, Personnel Proponency, Strategic Initiatives, Reserve Affairs, the Historian's Office, the Ordnance Museum, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Directorate. Additionally, he was responsible for primary interface with the CASCOM matrix staff in areas such as Protocol, Public Affairs, G1, G4, G6, Safety, and all other special staff sections.

Colonel Gregory Mason Retired in 2014.
