Mr. Michael P. Devine's career spanned 36 years and ranged from success as a bench scientist working on liquid and soid propellants, and small arms ammunition through Senior Executive Service (SES) leadership as the Director of the U.S. Army Armanent Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) headquartered at Picatinny Arsenal.
Mr. Devine graduated from St. Joseph University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Science degree from Drexel University. After success in the ARDEC Executive Development program and an assignment in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as Staff Associate to the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense Tactical Warfare, Mr. Devine was promoted to be a member of the Program Executive Office (PEO) Armanents, in which he exercised oversight of a range of ammunition and weapons projects, including the Sense and Destroy Armor Program (SADARM).
Following a promotion in 1997 to Deputy, PEO Ground Combat Support Systems (GCSS), Mr. Devine became the ARDEC Technical Director in 2000, and ultimately overall Director when the one-star commander position was eliminated. He retired from ARDEC in 2005.
Mr. Devine holds two patents, has made numerous technical presentations, and received multiple awards, including Army R&D awards, the Army Exceptional Civilian Service Award, the Association of the United States Army Citation for Exceptional Service in support of National Defense, and the National Defense Industrial Association (NDLA) Firepower Award for Management.
