Brigadier General John Haley was commissioned a second lieutenant on July 8, 1987 following graduation from Saint Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Chemistry. He also holds a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
Brigadier General Haley has served admirably in a variety of demanding positions throughout his career. Some of his more notable assignments include Aide-De-Camp to the Commanding General, 21st Theater Support Command; Military Assistant to the Vice President of the United States, serving for two years in the White House; three years as Commander, 703rd Main Support Battalion, 3d Infantry Division that included being forward deployed to Iraq in 2003 (where he successfully converted the battalion into the Army’s first modular Brigade Support Battalion). BG Haley has also served as the Maintenance Division Chief, Army G4; Commander, 405th Army Field Support Brigade, Executive Officer and later Special Assistant to the Commanding General, Army Materiel Command.
In 2013, BG Haley assumed command of the U.S. Army Ordnance School and became the 38th Chief of Ordnance. While in this position, he directed and oversaw the development and implementation of several key Military Occupational Classification and Structure Submissions that not only positively impacted the careers of Ordnance Soldiers but greatly enhanced the Ordnance Corps’ ability to support the Army mission. Two years later BG Haley assumed command of the 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command.
BG Haley retired in 2017.
