CW5 (Ret) Eddie Royal entered active duty in September of 1969. Upon completion of Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for MOS 63B, and upon completion of the Basic Airborne Course, he was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division (ID) at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Appointed as a W01, 630A in 1982, Chief Royal had many distinguished and challenging assignments, including: 82d Aviation Battalion (Airborne); 123rd Signal Battalion, Germany; 407th Supply and Transportation Battalion, Ft Bragg, which was one of the first units on the ground in Saudi Arabia; Maintenance Support Officer, 302nd Forward Support Battalion, Camp Casey, Korea; Inspections Team Chief, 82d Airborne Division Inspector General’s Office, where he redefined inspection philosophy; Theater Senior Readiness Officer, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, United States Army Europe, where he led Soldiers on missions in Bosnia, Kosovo, Romania, Bulgaria, and Poland. He also established and supervised the first Theater Fleet Refurbishment Program, a $32 million dollar effort that dramatically improved operational readiness. Over a period involving seven deployments, his Reset team assessed and reset over 125,000 major end items.
CW5 Royal’s final assignment was as the Senior Ground Technician for the 528th Sustainment Brigade, U.S. Army Special Operations Command. He quickly established himself as the subject matter expert on supporting the myriad platforms used by the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community. He established a unique team comprised of senior warrant officers ranging the full breath of the Logistics World.
CW5 Royal retired in October 2011.
