CSM Marvin Womack

CSM Marvin WomackCSM Womack entered the Army in November 1975, completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Ft Knox, KY, and was awarded the MOS of 63C, Track Vehicle Mechanic. He holds an Associates of Applied Science Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics, and a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering Technology from World College.

Serving in every leadership position from squad leader up to nominative level Command Sergeant Major, CSM Womack was the first of a select few CSMs allowed to serve on extended active duty, culminating in his final assignment as the Command Sergeant Major for the 20th CBRNE Command. Among his other duty assignments are Drill Sergeant, Brigade Maintenance Supervisor, First Sergeant, Depot Sergeant Major, G4 Sergeant Major, and Battalion and DISCOM Command Sergeant Major.

In this role, he was one of the leading forces behind the realignment, restructure and retraining of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) from the Garrison mission concept to the tactical world. Over 3,000 EOD Soldiers and their families moved thousands of miles across the United States during the turbulent restructuring. Many family members moved or relocated while their Soldiers were deployed. Today, the realignment and restructure can be seen within the 20th CBRNE Command throughout the forces.

He worked tirelessly to retain EOD Soldiers. His persistence in trying to recruit and retain EOD Soldiers finally paid off when EOD Team Leaders were awarded the largest bonus in the ordnance community.

CSM Womack retired in January 2010.
