CSM Stephen D. Blake

During his career, CSM Blake served in a number of key enlisted leadership positions leading thousands during both peacetime and war. He has completed overseas tours in Germany and Korea, as well as a combat tours in Southwest Asia during both Operations Desert Shield / Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and a tour in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

CSM Blake was also selected by the CG and Division CSM of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to serve as the CSM of 101st Sustainment Brigade in combat. This deployed multifunctional brigade consisted of five battalions during OIF 05-07, providing critical direct, general and area support to the 101st Airborne Division/Task Force Band of Brothers and 3d COSCOM.

As Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, consisting of 11 brigades and 10 battalions globally, CSM Blake advised the commander on all personnel matters to include maintenance, logistics, and training. He mentored officers and sergeants major, interfaced with Army division-level command sergeants major and MACOM command sergeants major to support the ARFORGEN process and provide seamless sustainment- level materiel support to the total force globally.

After retirement in May of 2012, he remained an active volunteer within the Quad Cities Area and still tirelessly supports numerous community events, veterans programs, army family programs, wounded warrior programs, and veterans’ ceremonial events. CSM Blake serves in the Rock Island Chapter of the Sergeants Major Association.

CSM Blake retired on May 31st, 2012.
