Colonel Jesse L. Brokenburr

Colonel Jesse L. BrokenburrColonel Jesse L. Brokenburr served over 28 years in the U.S. Army as a multi-functional logistician, retiring as a Colonel. Upon graduation from Florida A&M University in 1970, Colonel Brokenburr was commissioned as an Ordnance Officer under the Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG) program. His first assignment took him to Fort Benning, Georgia with the 197th Infantry Brigade where he served his combat arms detail. In 1971, Lieutenant Brokenburr returned to the Ordnance branch and began his storied Ordnance career. His Ordnance path took him to more traditional staff and command assignments - from Shop Officer to Army staff - from Company to Battalion Command and culminating with Depot Command. With every assignment, he never lost focus on how he could influence and contribute to the advancement of the Ordnance Corps.

His notable assignments included Instructor/Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York; Company Command with the 7th Combat Equipment Company in Germany; Training with Industry with Coca-Cola in Atlanta, GA; Battalion Command with the 68th Corps Support Battalion; and as the Commander of the Tooele Army Depot in 1993.

In addition, he was selected to serve as a Logistics Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA), General Gordon R. Sullivan. As a member of the CSA Staff Group's interdisciplinary team, he helped to ensure strategic outreach to other Army and national level strategists. Provided the focus on Army strategic issues through the development of briefings and expository papers for the CSA. After his stint as the Tooele Army Depot Commander, he was approved by the Army DCSLOG/G4 to serve as the DCSOPS/ G3 Division Chief, Combat Support/Combat Service Support/Common Systems Division, responsible for the strategic planning, requirements determination, prioritization and budget management for all logistics equipment modernization and force structure in the U.S. Army.

Colonel Brokenburr culminated his stellar Army career as the Director of European Directorate where he managed International Programs (European Region) for the U.S. Army Security Assistance Program and foreign military sales (FMS) valued at $8 billion.

Colonel Brokenburr's awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit w/OLC, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal w/3 OLCs.

Colonel Brokenburr retired from active duty on February 1st, 1999.
