Chief Warrant Officer Five Ronald P. DiehlChief Warrant Officer Five Ronald P. Diehl joined the U.S. Air Force in October 1977 and attended basic training at Lackland AFB in January 1978.

In 1989, SGT Diehl joined the Indiana Army National Guard as a member of the 113th Co A Combat Engineer Company, in LaPorte, IN. He immediately assumed the duties as the company Motor Sergeant. Within 12 months time Sergeant Diehl significantly improved the maintenance posture of the unit and was award its first and only maintenance excellence award by the State Surface maintenance office. In 1994, SSG Diehl was selected for acceptance into the Warrant Officer Corps as a 915A Automotive Maintenance Warrant Officer.

In November 1999, then Chief Warrant Officer Two Diehl entered into the Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) program assigned to the 417th GS Maintenance Company in Wabasha, MN where he inherited an under performing company within the U.S. Army Reserves (USAR) with very low production output. Within 6 months of assignment, Chief Diehl raised the production output of unit by 60%. Within 18 months, the unit was the top component rebuild producing unit within the USAR. In 2001-2003, through extensive management efforts by Chief Diehl, the unit was awarded best "HOT Mission" unit by USARC Headquarters.

In 2014, Chief Warrant Officer Five Diehl was assigned to the 310th ESC as Senior Logical Warrant Officer and dual hatted as the Command Chief Maintenance Officer. In September of 2014, Chief Diehl was deployed to Fort Hood, TX with the 310th ESC and took over all sustainment functions and actions for III Corp, Fort Hood. In this 16 month deployment Chief Diehl, was appointed to III Corp COMET and IG inspection teams to provide guidance and training to non-divisional units across III CORP AO. By the end of the deployment maintenance readiness of non-divisional units had risen over 25% from a low of 45%.

In 2015, Chief Diehl was assigned to CASCOM Ordnance (OD) Proponent Office as the Reserve Component OD Proponent Senior Warrant Officer and USAR ARPA for all OD Warrant Officers MOS's. In this final duty assignment he was instrumental in developing the TCS/ESC manning FDU;s which resulted in 10 CW5 915 positions added to manning documents across USAR. Other key policies he contributed to includes the SMC FDU, the Motor Pool video creation, and part of Department of the Army G4 team rewriting AR 750-1.

Chief Diehl's awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal w/ 6OLC.

Chief Diehl retired on October 1st, 2020.
