Colonel Anthony K. Atlas, Sr.

Colonel Anthony K. Atlas, Sr.Colonel Anthony K. Atlas, Sr. was born in Riverside, California. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton, a Vocational Education Credential from University of California, Los Angeles, a Master’s Degree from American Military University, Charles Town, WV and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from The U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA. He served as an enlisted Soldier for 8 years before attending Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA and was commissioned in 1992.

As an Ordnance Corps Regional Training Site-Maintenance Commandant then Major Atlas elevated the unit to achieve the TRADOC accreditation standard "Institution of Excellence" in all 15 evaluated areas. Further during his two-year tenure as a Commandant, the unit trained 1187 students which exceeded 100% of his ATRRS quota. Finally, he improved the working relationship between the Fort Hood Active Army units especially the III Corps and the 1st Cavalry Division by training their Soldiers as well.

Lieutenant Colonel Atlas led the One Army School System Proof of Principle for Ordnance Courses at various Ordnance Training locations. Which resulted in an overwhelming success with all attendees providing superior evaluations to the program, supporting this TRADOC initiative. Further his program integrated all elements of the DOTMLPF, securing approval by the American Council on Education to award college credit for these Ordnance courses.

Colonel Atlas made significant contributions to the Ordnance Corps as the Chief of Staff Reserve Component Office he skillfully provided leadership and oversite of the Reserve Component and synchronizing efforts across the total force speaking to his strategic depth ensuring the Army Reserve and Army National Guard training initiatives were on par with the Active Army with complete integration of the Reserve Components into all Ordnance requirements, and when COVID impacted operations, he raised his right hand to coordinate all COVID operations for the Chief of Ordnance. Most significant in his accomplishments were his efforts to safely return Army Reserve and Army National Guard Soldiers to select Regional Training Sites-Maintenance to continue to instruct recovery operations courses. Additionally, Colonel Atlas served as the interim 59th OD Brigade Commander.

Colonel Atlas’s military awards and decorations include, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Silver and Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star Device, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Star Device, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Gold Hour Glass, Army Service Ribbon, Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon with Numeral 3, NATO ISAF Medal, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge, and Basic Recruiter’s Badge.
