General Edward M.
Daly graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1987 and was commissioned as an Ordnance Officer.
General Daly served in a myriad of leadership roles including command of the 702nd Main Support Battalion in
South Korea from 2003-2005 and the 43d Sustainment Brigade at Fort Carson from 2008-2011.
From 2012-2013 General Daly served as the 37th Chief of Ordnance and Commandant of the United Army Ordnance School where he spearheaded the effort that removed all MOS requirements related to gender. His leadership and vision led to MOS 91A (Abrams Tank System Maintainer, MOS 91M (Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer), and MOS 91P (Self-Propelled Artillery Systems Maintainer) opening to female Soldiers.
From 2017-2020 General Daly served as the Deputy Commanding General, United States Army Materiel Command. He was directly responsible for the planning and execution where the largest realignment of functions in AMC’s history. Through his efforts, AMC provides a complete portfolio of services from materiel, equipment and munitions to installation and financial services required to effectively support and sustain a modern and lethal force. He relinquished and transferred the Research, Development, and Engineering Command (RDECOM) and its functions to Army Futures Command, while simultaneously adding medical materiel to AMC’s portfolio through the creation of the Army Medical Logistics Command (AMLC); installation services through the addition of Installation Management Command (IMCOM); and financial services through the addition of the U.S. Army Financial Management Command.
General Daly culminated his storied career as the 20th Commanding General, US Army Materiel Command where he served as AMC's entry point for global logistics operations and provided clear and concise guidance to 10 geographically dispersed major subordinate commands. GEN Daly oversaw the movement and relocation of more than 75,000 Afghan evacuees as a part of OPERATION ALLIES WELCOME. He successfully spearheaded efforts to synchronize transportation and establish temporary facilities at five Army installations to provide lodging, food service, personal hygiene, and health care support to special immigrant visa applicants, their families, and other individuals at risk.
General Daly holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, an MBA from Gonzaga University and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
General Daly retired in May 2023.
