Chief Warrant Officer Four Melissa C. Johnson Throughout Chief Melissa Johnson's 31 plus years of service, Ms. Johnson has distinguished herself by exceptionally meritorious service in a succession of positions of great importance and responsibility while promoting and providing a lasting impact to the Ordnance Corps and United States Army, culminating as the Commandant of the Iowa Ordnance Training Center, Iowa Army National Guard. Chief Johnson’s previous positions of significant leadership include the Field Maintenance Officer in Charge at the National Maintenance Training Center, TAC Officer Warrant Officer Candidate School, Senior Ordnance / Logistics Warrant Officer Sustainment Training Center.

The hallmark of Chief Johnson’s career is her uncanny ability to become a subject matter expert wherever she is placed and to use her knowledge, talent, and drive as a force multiplier for operational readiness. A phenomenal mentor, coach, and trainer to both Soldiers and leaders, Chief Johnson expects nothing but the best from those around her and always gives back the best of herself.

Chief Johnson culminated her exemplary career as the Commandant and Senior Instructor of the Iowa Ordnance Training Center (IOTC), one of 13 Regional Training Sites for Maintenance. Under her leadership, the IOTC has conducted more than 65 classes, resulting in the successful training and graduation of over 700 Ordnance Soldiers from MOSQ, NCOES, and ASI producing courses. Chief Johnson has proven to be a fair and decisive leader whom time and again has earned the trust and respect of her subordinates and superiors through her technical competence and ability to anticipate and provide the support needed for mission accomplishment. Service to country and others best describes this professional Soldier's lifetime of accomplishments and the Army is better off because of her commendable service.

Chief Johnson’s awards and decorations include the Army Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC) and the Army Commendation Medal (4OLC).
