Brigadier General Michelle M.T. Letcher

Brigadier General Michelle M.T. LetcherBrigadier General Michelle M.T. Letcher graduated from Illinois State University in 1995 and was commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery Officer prior to converting to an Ordnance Officer in 2000. General Letcher served in a myriad of leadership roles including command of the 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in Germany from 2011-2013 and the 16th Sustainment Brigade in Germany from 2015-2017.

From 2018 to 2020 BG Letcher served as the Commanding General, Joint Muntion & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command; and the Commander, US Army Joint Munitions Command where her leadership and management skills ensured the Joint Forces deployed around the world had the necessary ammunition required to meet a myriad of missions. She reshaped the ammunition enterprise and its industrial base to better meet the future needs of the warfighter.

From 2020-2021 BG Letcher served as the Commandant, US Army Ordnance School & the 42nd Chief of Ordnance where she led the TRADOC Joint Concept for Contested Logistics (JCCL) planning effort and worked alongside the Joint Staff J4 and HQDA G4 Team to ensure the Army remained nested with Joint Warfighter Concept (JWC). In addition, her leadership guided the team analyzing and implementing the Army’s Project Athena throughout Ordnance associated POIs in the Basic Officer Leaders Course (BOLC) and the basic and advanced warrant officer courses (WOBC & WOAC) that will directly affect readiness while making our officers and warrant officers the best in the world.

BG Letcher culminated her storied career serving as the Chief of Staff, US Army Futures Command where she led administrative and daily operations of over 26,000 military and civilian employees. Her outstanding leadership, initiative and dedication to duty allowed the organization to transition from an inaugural organization agency into a full four-star level command during a very tumultuous 10 month time period as the country emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic. Her personal attention to AFC’s staff, subordinate commands and Cross Functional Teams was pivotal in building comradery and maintaining morale for the entirely new and quickly growing AFC-enterprise.

General Letcher holds a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University, and a Masters degree from Kansas State University in Security Studies. Her awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service Medal.

General Letcher retired in August 2023.
