Norman G. May

Chief Warrant Officer Five Norman G. May is a native of Emporia, Kansas and enlisted in the United States Army in March 1984. Currently assigned as the 915E Senior Ordnance Logistics Officer for the U.S. Army ODCS, G4 at the Pentagon. 

CW5 May enlisted assignments included; 598th Maintenance Company, Fort Benning Georgia, A Co, 56th FA (Pershing) Battalion, Schwabish Gmued, Germany, 225th Maintenance Company, Fort Sill, Oklahoma with a deployment to Desert Shield/Storm and last served in the 596th Maintenance Company, Darmstadt, Germany.

CW5 May was accessed into the Warrant Officer Corps in Feb 1996 as an Allied Trades Technician and assigned to the 263rd Maintenance Company, Fort Hood, Texas. In 1999, and then was assigned to the 317th Maintenance Company in Bamberg, Germany with a deployment to Camp Dogwood and Camp Anaconda/Balad, Iraq in Mar 2003.

In 2004, CW5 May was assigned to the 588th Maintenance Company in Fort Sill; Oklahoma and deployment to Tallil, Iraq in 2005. Upon return from deployment, he was reassigned the 168th BSB and deployed to Bagdad, Iraq in 2007 where he served as the Bravo Company Commander as well as a Logistics Training and Advisory Team OIC.

In 2008, he was reassigned to the 1-22nd FA BN as the Senior Warrant Officer and severed as the Battalion Operations Officer. He was then reassigned to the 434th FA BDE and the Senior Maintenance Chief and the Deputy Direct for Fleet Maintenance (FMX) with a deployment to Afghanistan in 2011 to serve as a Senior Maintenance Chief for the NTM-A in Kabul, Afghanistan. Upon completion to this deploy in 2012, CW5 May was then assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division as the Division Maintenance Chief with a deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2014. CW5 May served in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, DA-G4 at Headquarters Department of the Army in Washington, DC prior to being selected as the tenth Ordnance Regimental Chief Warrant Officer.

CW5 May has earned both his Associate’s degree in Computer Science and Bachelor’s degree in Information System Management from the University of Maryland University College while on active duty as well as completed all levels of Warrant Officer Professional Military Education.

His awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal , Overseas Ribbon, NATO Medal, Saudi Arabia Kuwait Liberation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Military Arm Service Ribbon and a recipient of the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe.
